Practical Photography Day at The Photography House in Pretoria: A Day of Mastering Light
On Saturday, June 8, 2024, members of the Centurion Camera Club gathered at The Photography House in Pretoria for a practical photography day focused on mastering different types of light. The event, led by experienced photographer Deon van Wyk, provided an opportunity for photographers to learn and practice their skills in various lighting conditions.
Throughout the day, photographers were able to experiment with different lighting setups and techniques, gaining hands-on experience in capturing high-quality images. The practical nature of the event allowed participants to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, enhancing their skills and confidence in handling different lighting conditions.
The day was structured around six stations, each dedicated to a specific type of light. The first station focused on capturing images in harsh sunlight, while the second explored the use of diffused light. The third station delved into the art of working with shadows, and the fourth introduced the use of reflectors to enhance photographs. The fifth station covered the technique of using fill light with a flash, and the final station was dedicated to full studio lights.
The Photography House in Pretoria provided an ideal setting for this practical photography day, offering a versatile space that accommodated the various lighting setups. The event was a valuable learning experience for photographers, providing them with the tools and techniques to improve their photography skills and take their work to the next level.
A huge thank you to The Photography House for the beautiful venue, and to the models, make up artists and designers that helped to make this day a huge success!
